The Dark Island

Although it has a 'traditional sound', the melody was originally composed by Iain in 1958 as a pipe lament for a local doctor under the title 'Dr Mackay's Farewell to Creagorry' - the town on Benbecula, Scotland, where Iain and his family lived.
It was subsequently used for a BBC Thriller called The Dark Island in 1963, which was filmed on South Uist.
